FAQs
1. How does the process work?
Once you have established your approximate budget, we will put you touch with our Irish based mortgage broker who will apply for a Spanish Mortgage on your behalf.
When mortgage approval comes through, we can then shortlist your favorite properties within your price range.
You can then make arrangements to travel to Alicante at a time that suits you.
In the meantime, we will liaise with our property partners in Spain to make hotel booking on your behalf, arrange collection from airport etc. Our partners will then establish an itinerary to view the shortlisted properties,
2. What happens once I decide to go ahead with the purchase?
Once an offer has been accepted by the vendor then you will need to pay a booking deposit. It is advisable to do this through your Spanish Solicitor.
Please note that unlike in Ireland where booking deposits are fully refundable, the same does not apply in Spain. Therefore before proceeding to this step, you would need to be 100% certain that you are happy to go ahead with the purchase.
3.How do I complete the purchase if I'm not in Spain?
Once you have paid your booking deposit , you can give power of attorney to your solicitor. This can be done either in Spain at the local notary office or also can be done at the Spanish consulate in Dublin. This will allow your Spanish solicitor to complete the purchase , set up your NIE number (Spanish PPS) set up a Spanish bank account, utility accounts, etc.. Please note you can indicate a time limit on this power of attorney or choose to leave it open ended so that your solicitor can act on your behalf in the future.
